Farewell Unit X!

Words : Kate Dunstone

As this year’s Unit X draws to a close here at the blog we’ve been reflecting on the highs, and sometimes lows, of this year’s project.

It’s been a busy ten weeks, with students visiting venues around Manchester and out to Blackpool and Yorkshire, working on collaborative projects from films to fashion. Our students have undertaken placements at Whitworth Art Gallery, the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, and schools around the city, while others have installed their work across the Northern Quarter and in Manchester Art Gallery.

With so much going on it’s been hard to keep up, but we’ve covered as many of the highlights as possible. Below are some of our favourite posts about this year’s Unit X…

First year students from Illustration with Animation, Graphic Design and Interactive Arts started their Unit X experience with a trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park

College One students were inspired by the educational offerings at Manchester Art Gallery

Neil Harbisson dazzled us with science

Unit X took over Future Everything

Students’ work covered NOMA

And the final shows were a huge success!

What is there left to say but well done to all the students and staff involved, and a huge thank you to Olivia, Kellie, Stewart and Moss, our Project Unit X contributors. Until the next time…!
